God’s Love Never Runs Out
Have you ever asked yourself does God still love me even though I keep sinning, messing up and making the same mistakes over and over again? I will say, I have been in this place! Sometimes I wonder how far God’s love for me truly goes, and will He ever leave me or will His patience with me run out.
I hope to bring you some encouragement and light to these questions that I have also found myself asking before!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
Jesus died for us when we were all still sinners and falling short of the glory of God. He didn’t wait for us to become perfect or deserving of His love; He freely gifted it to us. There is nothing we can do to lose the love that God has for us! The Lord is unchanging! He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His love for us is eternal and everlasting.
“For all have fallen short and have sinned against the glory of God and are justified by His grace as a gift.”
Romans 3:23
If we are continuing to do the same specific sin time and time again, we need to ask ourselves, are we repenting and asking for forgiveness from the Lord of our sins? Are we asking God for help, guidance, and wisdom to conquer our sin or are we comfortable sitting in it? If we are boasting in our sin, we may need to ask ourselves how much do we truly love and honor God? Are we welcoming Him and trusting Him with our life?
Being Obedient to His Word
Striving to be obedient to the word and commands of the Lord produces good fruit and evidence of how much we love Him. There will always be sin our life because we are not perfect, we are not Jesus! But God knows your intentions and sees your hearts desires and will guide you to a path of righteousness in your life. Ask God in prayer to soften your heart and for the Holy Spirit to make a home in your heart. Ask God to break your heart for what breaks His.
“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:1-4
The mercy and grace we receive from the Lord is a representation of God’s perfect patience with us. Even when we keep running back to the same sin over and over again, we can take comfort in knowing that God’s love for us is greater than anything else in this world and that Hid patience and mercy will never run out with us. We did nothing to deserve His love and forgiveness and we can do nothing to lose it!
